Ad Rank

Ad Rank is one of the means Google uses to determine an advert’s ranking on the Search Results pages. The formula is a multiplication: the maximum amount you’re prepared to pay per click multiplied by the actual Click Through Rate % your ad is receiving. CPC x CTR = Ad Rank Score.

Absolute Unique Visitor

Number of distinct devices (PCs) active on the site over the reporting period.

Avg. CPC

The average cost per click for a campaign. This is calculated as the amount spent divided by the number of clicks received.

Bounce Rate

Analytics track these bounces to inform you how many visitors you are losing.


Google stores each word in every page it finds (imagine the storage size!).

CTR (%)

The Click Through rate for a campaign. This is calculated as the number of clicks received divided by the number of impressions.


User achieves a defined goal. This helps you to see how good your site is at turning traffic into goals such as signing up for an event or registering on the site or paying for an item. It gives you the ability to gage how hard your site is working.

Google Analytics

This is the easiest way to track your traffic and analyse your website stats.

These are found on the right-hand side and sometimes on top of the left side of a search result. Companies pay to be featured on Google Adwords.

Unique Visitor

A unique visitor is a person who has visited your website at least once in a fixed time period, which can be per day, per week or per month. This term is used in web stats to counts each visitor to your website once in the time frame of the analytics report. If they visit your site seven times a day they will only be counted a one unique visitor for that day or week or month. This stat is used to measure your site's true audience or ‘reach’.


Each page on your website will have its own URL (Universal Resource Locator), normally generated from the page title and should have an individual ‘address’ for each of your web pages.
